Are you constantly plagued with acne or other skin disorders and it doesn’t seem to get better? Or….it gets better for a second and then flairs back up?
If you answered yes to either of these questions, you’re not alone.
What triggered this article; was this. Earlier this week, we (my sister-in-law Kathy and I) did a Fermenting class and demo. After the class, while speaking to so many, one particular lady asked me about my skincare use.
She approached the subject like this…”Since you’re the healthy and organic girl, it would make sense that you probably use good quality organic skincare products too, right?”
While this isn’t the first time people have commented on my skin, it’s the first time in the context of a food class.
Now remember, I’m an experimenter and researcher, so my logical brain went into the correlation between our gut health, our brain and our skin.
You see, they really all do work systematically together. I’ve always instinctively known that what you put in shows up on the outside, via your skin, your weight, your mood, etc.
When you are stressed what happens? You tend to eat and/or drink more caffeinated foods/drinks and you sleep less. You also tend to pick up more of the junk or comfort foods than you might normally.
So imagine a life like this. We’re constantly barraged with stress, toxins, processed foods and a body that’s stressed more and more and more!
What happens? We might start noticing symptoms of indigestion, acid reflux, autoimmune diseases, skin disorders, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, depression, anxiety, or other issues.
What if you haven’t noticed any of these things, other than the “normal” stresses? You’ve had hardly any real signs of gut disorders that would lead the face breaking out and/or the dry patches of skin.
There are many studies that link gut health to skin health. Vitamin A and D are essential to good skin. If you suffer from “leaky gut”, your body isn’t utilizing the nutrients that you are taking in and these toxic antibodies are floating into your bloodstream and causing havoc on the outside as well as the inside.
Since the skin covers a large percentage of our bodies, and it does absorb a lot of what’s put on it, it does warrant some thought about what happens from the inside out and vice versa.
Going back to the ladies question about my skincare, yes I do take care of what I put on the outside. As I just mentioned, our skin is a giant sponge and if it gets clogged up with toxic overload from so called good skincare, we are just overloading our system with more junk.
The big named cosmetics don’t want you to know that the more you use their toxic products, they more you are reliant on using them, as they continually will make your skin worse.
Same goes for the overload on the inside. If you don’t deal with these issues and go through a healing process, you’ll never have the health or skin that you desire.
I know, balloon buster here! The good news is this….there is hope and healing to be had. I keep saying this! At some point, I hope that you believe it internally and take the necessary steps to do what you have to!
Acne is a big problem for many and it almost always can and is linked to gut health. Clean up your gut and clean up your skin. Let’s face it. We all have some vanity or we’d not be human.
Who wants to truly live with a face, neck, scalp or body marked by acne or other major skin disorders? Let’s face it….we all need to take care of our inside so our bodies can take care of us, which includes the outside.
What experiences have you had with skin disorders and cleaning up your diet and gut health?
