Are you crazy?

Are you crazy? Do you really want to suffer miserably with poor health and just get by? Pretty bold questions aren’t they?

This week I was privileged enough to have a GREAT conversation with my friend Jered. We were conversing about how sometimes we just want to shake people and say “What is wrong with you? Why won’t you wake up and do what you need to do to take back your health?”

The conversation went something like this, see if you’ve had similar ones with anyone you love and care about, or maybe it’s you and you’ve had the conversation with yourself.

We watch people out living their lives. The eyes are glazed over; they are lethargic and have brain fog. The senses are dulled and are taking so many different meds that it’s hard to keep them all straight.

But, it’s so easy to call the doc up and get an appointment for what ails you and then drive up to the pharmacy window and pop some more pills and you THINK you feel better for a time.

The sad reality is this….you’re not getting better. The even sadder truth is…you may really believe that you are!

Taking meds is not going to heal you. It’s covering up symptoms, not healing them. The sooner you realize that you hold the power within your hands to do something about your situation, the sooner you will be on the road to recovery.

Baby steps is what I talk about often. Most of us won’t or don’t want to dive in head first, although we probably should. We get overwhelmed with the sheer volume of information and what to do with it or how to process it.

Jered used himself, being very vulnerable, (I hope you don’t mind that I share this), he didn’t know the basics of being in a kitchen. Like what it meant to “zest” a piece of fruit or how to “press” garlic.

I believe that many are in the same boat. You want to learn, but haven’t the slightest idea how or where to begin. If you’re really serious about figuring it out, you’ll go research and learn or you’ll ask someone how to do something.

The unfortunate thing is this…often times we don’t want to appear unknowledgeable, so we just don’t say anything.

Do you see why I truly just want to shake you? It’s like standing outside and looking in! I can see all the hurt, the pain, the burning gut, the sadness and I can help.

You have to want it though. Therein lays the BIG problem. Without the desire and tenacity to do the work and take the time it will take to heal, you won’t. You’ll stay stuck right where you’re at and continue to get worse.

While you may talk a big talk about wanting to get better and wanting to have more energy and wanting to lose weight, until you actually are serious about it and make it the first priority in your life, you won’t change a thing.

I’m sorry if this is hitting you between the eyes. Well, I’m really not. You see, I need you to get mad and to have an epiphany. This is your only life. You aren’t like a cat that has 9 lives. You get 1 and what you do with it, is entirely up to you. I just truly hope that you decide to live and live it fully.

If you haven’t figured out yet, I’m a pretty passionate and an opinionated individual. I can get in your face when I need to. I can be the biggest cheerleader a person knows. If you’re facing a crisis in your life, you may need a friend and you may need someone to hold you accountable to staying on track.

I believe in you. I believe you have the power to take back your health and your life. Do you believe it? Leave your comments below OR schedule time to talk with me so you can start living the life you were put on this earth for.

To your health,

Holistic Health Coach

PS: Belief….it’s a powerful word. Hope….it’s all you need to start believing and living! Are you ready?

Why I Do What I Do….

I get asked quite frequently why I care so much for others and why I do what I do. My answer is always the same….because we all have the ability, given the right tools, to live a whole and healthy life.

Why should we take our “temple” for granted? Why should we “assume” that we will keep be given chance after chance to change our ways?

Ocean Robbins put it like this…”When we turn our food into a commodity that we consume for the lowest possible price and the highest possible short-term pleasure, without regard for the planet or humans and animals who may have been involved in its production our choices come back to haunt us. We are toxifying our bodies as we are toxifying our planet with a toxic food system.”

“This toxic food system is crippling our economy, it’s causing millions of deaths, and it’s causing widespread suffering to a majority of the humans alive today. And it is completely preventable.”

I personally couldn’t have said this any better. The more that we stick our heads in the sand and “don’t care”, the more we will have diseases, illnesses, early deaths and more.

On the other hand, the more we’re willing to learn what we don’t know and take action, diseases, illnesses and early deaths are preventable.

This is precisely, Why I Do What I Do!

I believe at our deepest core, most of us do care about taking care of our bodies and learning what we need to do in order to turn things around.

I really don’t honestly believe that we’d rather die an early death and live a miserable existence. I think that given a choice, we’d rather take charge of what goes into our mouths and learn proper nutrition.

This leads me into why I’m “The Gut Lady”. If you’ve read any of my previous blogs, you know that I’m constantly linking most diseases to your gut health, or lack thereof.

As mentioned above, we can prevent most of what happens to us and our bodies are miraculous healing machines, when given the right food and tools to heal.

You have the power within your hands, which is really incredible if you think about it. Have you ever thought about the “Super Heroes?” Well you really could be ranked right there with them, when armed with knowledge and the will to make the necessary changes.

If you decide to stay stuck because you are overwhelmed, I can’t help you and I doubt that anyone can. Super heroes think about how they can best serve themselves and others.

If you are overwhelmed and want help, you’re in the right place. We can journey through this process together. I love linking arms with individuals and families that truly want to make a difference in their lives.

When we have the drive and tenacity, we’ll make huge strides toward improving our health, our lives, our attitudes and all the other benefits that go with being “healthy.”

Are you searching and seeking? Do you want to learn all you can and either improve your health or heal your body?

You are in the right place. This again, Is Why I Do What I Do.

I believe that we each have a God given right to take care of our bodies, which means being smart, learning, taking action constantly, and helping others do the same.

You see, I’m a big proponent of learning and then sharing that knowledge with others. If you constantly take in new things that could help others and don’t, well, that’s just wrong.

Not only are you doing others a disservice, you are not being true to yourself either.

Now….are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? If so, I am expecting to hear from you. Click here and “let’s talk.”

You either walk inside your story

I’m thrilled to bring you the takeaways I had after reading a great little article written by Paul Hudson. You will see how this plays into the importance of your life, including how it influences our health lives as well.

If you see a flash of light come on, that’s good. It means that I’ve flicked on the light switch for things to think about and work on.

We all have areas in our lives that greatly influence others and our mental strength is a deciding factor of whether or not you will have a good life. As is pointed out in the article, there are many levels to mental strength and all are needed to be successful and happy.

The one particular area of mental strength that has the greatest impact is that of emotional strength.

Our emotions are definitely apart of who we are, but can be distinguished from the remaining mental qualities because they most directly influence our physical body. Hudson states that they affect the way our body functions and they drive every single one of our activities. Without emotions, we would have no reason to act, to do anything with ourselves.

As I started this article out, emotions are our greatest motivators and unfortunately, can go the opposite way and be our worst enemy too.

Do you consider yourself emotionally strong? It really is essential for many reasons. There are countless reasons that emotionally strong people avoid situations and many actions they never take. Hudson lists 15 of them. See if you see yourself here or see wholes in your emotional strength.

1. They don’t beg for attention

Those who feel the need for recognition only find themselves experiencing feelings of worth when others make them feel needed.

2. They don’t allow others to bring them down

Emotional strength requires resilience. The world we live in is filled with haters. Have you ever noticed that often times the people closest to us, often times are the very ones holding us back

3. They don’t hold grudges

A good point made is that I you already care about a situation more than should, you are probably holding a grudge. If you receive a genuine apology, accept it and let it go. If you don’t, let it go and don’t hang around the person.

4. They never stop doing their own thing

We do what we love to do, no matter what. Our happiness isn’t dependent on someone raining on our parade.

5. They never stop believing in themselves

Those who truly love and understand themselves and aren’t afraid or proud to be themselves, never doubt themselves.

6. They don’t act like bitches or a-holes

Some people are just plain mean. Being a jerk is an intimidation factor, which is overcompensation for lack of confidence.

7. They know better than to let just anyone into their lives

They don’t expose themselves to people who break down their defenses and crush their morals. Most people are lost and would super happy to take you with them. Don’t let a bad situation or acquaintance, spoil your happiness.

8. They aren’t afraid to love.

If you’re afraid to love, you don’t have enough confidence in yourself. If things don’t work out, it’s not you, it’s the two of you together. Unless you’re mean and awful.

9.They don’t lie in bed dreading the day ahead of them.

The best part of your day should be the moment you wake up and realize you’re still alive.

10. They’re not afraid of slowing down

Emotionally strong people aren’t in constant need of excitement and action. They don’t have to be going non-stop all the time in order to not think about their demons. They can appreciate life and living and just slowing down enough to breath in and out.

11. They don’t do things they don’t want to do

We all do things that we don’t love to do, but we shouldn’t be doing things that we don’t like to do. The emotionally strong are good at figuring out ways to focus on what they love.

12. They have no problem saying “No”

If you can’t say “no”, you will get abused. You’ll be considered a pushover and no one will ever ask you for your opinion or take it seriously when you give it. Saying “no” reminds people that they don’t have control over you.

13. They don’t “forget” to give back

We are not too busy or too poor to donate your money and/or time. While some choose to ignore responsibilities, the emotionally strong don’t forget. The stronger you are emotionally, the more you come to appreciate others and life itself.

14. They don’t feel the need to fit in.

The stronger you are emotionally, the more independent you become. You don’t feel the need to fit in because you fit in where it matters, which is the world. Wanting to fit in really just says that you are afraid to be yourself.

15. They don’t forget that happiness is a decision

Emotionally strong have learned to understand the power their brains have over both the mind and the body. Our emotions don’t reflect reality, rather our emotions reflect the way we interpret reality. Understanding that, gives us near-full control of our emotions, and therefore, our lives.

Reflection: What’s in your crystal ball?

Hi my family and friends,

Over the last several days and especially this morning, I have found myself being very introspective about my life, my health, my purpose, if you will. Kind of like looking into a crystal ball and seeing my life play out.

I’ve found myself looking inside at what makes me tick. Do you ever do that? If not, I highly recommend it. You see that’s where you start to find truth and healing.

I’ve shared with you my story of growing up with my Dad who I love dearly, but didn’t always feel like I measured up and didn’t always have the self-worth that I should have had.

These are all things that have molded me into the person that I am today. Each of us has the unique ability to stand in our purpose and give back to each other our gifts and intentions.

What I mean by that is this….I have been coaching so many of you through life, which includes your health, your woes, the stuff in life that comes up that causes stress and anxiety too.

I pray for you and your worries and concerns. For your burdens to be light and your faith to be strong and when there is hope, there is life.

During my deep reflection time, I’ve really been hit between the eyes that I am truly hitting my stride of my true purpose and calling. I am “The Gut Lady”. I have had more people share their stories with me and you do you know that the majority all revolve around our gut?

Shocking isn’t it? Not really, I was being sarcastic. As our gut is often called our 2nd brain and is also responsible for 70-80% of your immune health, it’s no wonder that given our current lifestyles, we have so many health issues.

It really all comes down to being willing and able to learn what you need to learn, take charge of your own health and not rely on the current medical field to supply that for you.

We are all responsible for ourselves. When you come to the end of the line, will you be happy with your choices and decisions about how well you took care of your one and only “temple”?

I know that many of you are overwhelmed with what to do or even where to begin. I get that. For me, when I find myself in overwhelm, I usually procrastinate. Why? Because I don’t know what to do first, second or third for that matter and then I drag myself around for a while.

If I can have a clear cut set of instructions, I am much more likely to take action. If I have some accountability added to the clear cut directions, I succeed even further.

When I see results from direction and accountability, I become unstoppable. Can you relate to this? I think that for many of you, you get hung up at the beginning or you get started and then stop because you didn’t have someone there checking in with you to make sure you didn’t derail and not get back up and going again.

This is exactly why my passion is to help everyone that seriously wants to reclaim their health or to be proactive about their health do so. You see, your health is as important to me, as is my own.

Without our health, what kind of existence is there? One of suffering, pain, depression, withdraws from society and not loving life at all.

I don’t want that for you or for me. We are all created to be fully alive, productive, active and full of life, not settling or just getting by.

If you’re seriously ready to get the help you need, to have a set of instructions to follow, the accountability you desire and need, the shoulder to lean on, then I’m here for you, but only if you’re serious about reclaiming your health.

Click here to claim your reserved spot. I have opened up my calendar to accommodate you. Why? Because I care about you and helping you get your life back.

I can no longer sit back and watch you walk by and not do something to help you. Life’s too short, so get up and back into the living again!

To your health,

Holistic Health Coach

PS: I know you are facing fear and uncertainty. I know it’s hard to face the unknown. Do you know what? It’s harder not to face it. Taking that first leap and saying “Yes I want and need help” is also the hardest. Once you’ve made it to the other side, it’s a lot easier. Click here to reclaim your life! It’s that important!

Do you have a love/hate relationship with food or yourself?

In dark room

I hope that the time you spend on this journey we call life is a great one for you. One that’s filled with much joy, love, happiness and most of all peace and acceptance with who you are.

Last week I shared my story of a young girls’ deepest desires to be accepted and loved and most of all to feel valued!

What I’ve learned throughout my life is this….we all need to be cherished, acknowledged, valued and loved. With all of these ingredients, we feel love, accept love and love ourselves.

When these things are missing in some way, we tend to look for ways in which to self-medicate, if you will. Whether that’s in the form of self-destruction through alcohol, drugs, sex, food or the wrong relationships.

What is it for you? Do you find you have a love/hate relationship with food? Or have you been a seeker of love in all the wrong places? Have you gotten to the place where you say enough is enough?

In my many conversations with clients, friends, family, colleagues, the underlying reasons are always the same. We want what we perceive we can’t have. We aren’t being fulfilled in certain areas of our lives.

How do you change this? First of all being willing to admit there is a problem, and then being willing to do the work.

The work comes in the form of creating an intention, a plan of action and doing the work.

Let’s use the example of stress eating. I find that when I’m stressed, I do one of two things, I don’t eat OR I tend to eat all the wrong things. I will find myself raiding the cupboards or refrigerator in search of something, anything, even if I’m not hungry. Do you do this? Have you ever made a run to the store or the drive thru just to satisfy this so-called, “need?”

There are definitely tricks and tips that I can help make you aware before you stuff your face, things like mental and physical triggers.

Last week I also challenged you with Hour of Health. How many took me up on this? In case you missed it, we were agreeing to spending the first hour of your day on something health related for 3 days. Things like…

Preparing a proper breakfast using whole foods

Working out (that means breaking a sweat)

Reading something that will improve your health

Taking action on a goal that you set for yourself to improve your health

So, the big question, how did it go for you? And even bigger, did you keep going past the 3 days that I suggested?

When you can set simple goals for yourself AND achieve them, it certainly sets you up with the confidence to push yourself further and set more goals.

I’ve always talked about taking baby steps in any new endeavor; this ensures that you are more likely to stick with the new habit that you are attempting to form.

So what are you thinking about now? Does any of this resonate with you or with someone you know? Often times, I might not see an immediate problem because I’m too close to it or what about the infamous victim mode.

You know what that is right?

  • I eat because I’m bored and he/she bought it anyway
  • I just drink in the evenings because I need to unwind from my job
  • My spouse/significant other isn’t on board, so I can’t eat healthy most of the time
  • My childhood was horrific, so it’s not my fault that I eat when I’m stressed.

The list could go on and on and on. But I think you get the idea. This is one of those areas that get tricky because often times we don’t know that we’re playing the victim.

When we can learn to identify it, we can be well on our way to recovery.

I will leave you with this….If I touched on a nerve or you identified something that I said in yourself, and you’d like to make a plan to get unstuck and out of your current situation, let’s chat.

Together we can come up with your triggers and an action plan for attacking them every single time they come up. Not only that, but what to do if your partner isn’t very supportive.

What’s one thing you know you need to change, but it just seems like you are climbing a mountain and it’s impossible for you? Leave your comments below.

Bone Broth – How important are the healing benefits?

Chicken Bone Broth

I talk a lot about healing and being proactive with your health, but I really haven’t talked a lot about why and the how.

A few months ago I was approached about the possibility of providing some of the healing foods that I prepare for my own family. Which I now do and love every minute of being able to help so many others.

I’ve shared with you that I’m an experimenter by nature, so playing in the healing foods world came naturally to me. I was intrigued by all the claims that surround the benefits of “healing” foods.

Because this is my passion, I dove in head first. One of the first things I began making was bone broth. It’s easy to make and the benefits are spectacular.

I joke with many about this being my “morning coffee”. I pour some broth into a mug that I’ve placed in some hot water, slowly warm and then pour in a splash of raw milk in it. It’s my little slice of heaven in the early morning hours when I’m having my devotional time.

I purely love the essence of this, but wow, the way it makes you feel. Recently I had a woman who I had been coaching on the benefits of broth because her big issue has been healing her leaky gut.

One of the first protocols we started with was bone broth. Her results were spectacular. After just 3 days, she had more energy, she felt better physically and mentally and she couldn’t thank me enough.

She was amazed that just implementing this one little thing could and did make such a big difference. It’s powerful what can and does happen when you’re willing to dive in and nourish your mind, body and soul.

I’m sure you’ve heard me say that our immune system is made up largely (70-80%) by the health of our gut (intestinal tract). Because our modern day diets consist of too much sugar and not enough healthy fats and beneficial bacteria’s, we suffer miserably.

Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, author of the book Gut and Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) Nutritional Protocol, she states that bone broth is excellent for “healing and sealing” your gut through your diet.

Bone broth or “stock” play major roles. Because it is easily digestible, it helps heal the lining of your gut, and contains valuable nutrients. Because abnormalities in your immune system are a common outcome of GAPS, and such immune abnormalities can then allow for the development of virtually any degenerative disease.

There are many reasons for making and consuming bone broth into your diet. The following healing benefits attest to its status as “good medicine.”

  • Helps heal and seal your gut, and promotes healthy digestion: The gelatin found in bone broth is a hydrophilic colloid. It attracts and holds liquids, including digestive juices, thereby supporting proper digestion.
  • Inhibits infection caused by cold and flu viruses, etc.: A study published over a decade ago found that chicken soup indeed has medicinal qualities, significantly mitigating infection
  • Reduces joint pain and inflammation, courtesy of chondroitin sulphates, glucosamine, and other compounds extracted from the boiled down cartilage
  • Fights inflammation: Amino acids such as glycine, proline, and arginine all have anti-inflammatory effects. Arginine, for example, has been found to be particularly beneficial for the treatment of sepsis (whole-body inflammation).

Glycine also has calming effects, which may help you sleep better

  • Promotes strong, healthy bones: As mentioned above, bone broth contains high amounts of calcium, magnesium, and other nutrients that play an important role in healthy bone formation
  • Promotes healthy hair and nail growth, thanks to the gelatin in the broth

Benefits of broth don’t end there. As explained by Sally Fallon Morell,

“Stock contains minerals in a form the body can absorb easily—not just calcium but also magnesium, phosphorus, silicon, sulfur and trace minerals. It contains the broken down material from cartilage and tendons–stuff like chondroitin sulphates and glucosamine, now sold as expensive supplements for arthritis and joint pain.”

So you see, it’s important for not only your healing journey but it’s important for so many other factors that are almost like bonuses. Imagine what you and your life will be like once you start inputting health and healing. Do you feel better, look better, have more energy to go live your life out loud? If you’d like to tackle this, and I highly recommend you do, here’s my recipe for Chicken Bone Broth (scroll down about 3 or so). While I also make beef broth, which is done slightly differently, my go to is chicken from pastured birds.

What has been your experience with making and consuming bone broth? New and have questions, ask away. Either way, leave your comments below!

When are you going to quit lying to yourself?

Sad girl

This week I have talked to quite a few of you all with the same questions…why can’t I stick to my goals….I really want them?

I always make the statement….”we only do what’s important to us.” I then often get the reply, “It is important.” No it isn’t.

It’s about changing habits and habits are hard to change, especially when we “don’t really want to.”

It’s about change period. There’s a saying that goes, “In order for things to change, I must change.”

A primary reason people hire a coach is to change the way they are doing things, including me. That’s why I have a coach.

I need to change certain behaviors; habits and I need accountability to do the things that I might not necessarily do, if left to my own devices.

You see, we are all human. We say we want certain things, but do we really?

If I were to ask you, how badly do you want to reduce your stress, get better sleep, balance your hormones, lose weight, lower your diabetes meds or anything else that might be of interest to you, what would you say?

If your answer is I want it bad, then you have to be willing to do the work. In my last email, I talked about our society wanting the magic pill and we want everything now. Including our health. I’m here to tell you, it takes work.

Nothing in this life is worth having without some skin in the game, which is your hard earned money, your time and your will to take action.

Without those ingredients, you’ll fail every time! It’s the truth. If I hadn’t invested in my coach, I wouldn’t know what I know today, I wouldn’t be the person I am today and I certainly wouldn’t have hit the goals that I had set for myself.

If you hire a coach and continue to do things the same way, you’re wasting your time and money.

I have the ability, the tools, the knowledge, the accountability that you need. You just have to finally want it. You have to be at the place where you say enough is enough. I’m worth it. There is no price you can place on your health.

I propose to you this: I want each of you; that are up for a challenge, to do the following for just 3 days. It’s called the Hour of Health!

I want you to make the 1st hour of everyday a priority for you and your health. What does that mean? Well, anything like:

Preparing a proper breakfast using whole foods

Working out (that means breaking a sweat)

Reading something that will improve your health

Taking action on a goal that you set for yourself to improve your health

You get the idea. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that what you’re doing is a productive use of this important time, if for example you tell me, well I got up and I walked to Dunkin Donuts and bought some coffee and a small snack (which was healthy) and walked home.

Sorry….that wasn’t productive use of your time. If you don’t walk, then partially ok.

I want you to really plan a healthy breakfast. Make it from whole foods, not a snack, especially if you skip breakfast to begin with.

Fuel up, burn some calories, take quite time to recharge your body, your mind and your spirit. Doing this first thing in the morning will charge your system up like nothing else will.

So are you ready to implement your own Hour of Health?

1. Commit to 1 hour every morning for the next 3 days. I’m taking you into baby steps so it’s manageable and you don’t lose your focus on this.

2. Spend the first hour 100% focused on your health. This means exactly what it says, no skimming Facebook or Twitter, just focus on your health.

3. Set your alarm an hour earlier if you need to in order to make this a priority

4. Keep track of what you accomplish over the next 3 days during your Hour of Health.

By starting your day with these activities that add value to your health, you’ll be amazed at how quickly things can (and will) change. Be completely honest about what you’re doing, no fudging.

If you think that you might not stick to your plan, find a buddy to help hold you accountable. Are you still not sure? Then perhaps you’re not serious about wanting things to change and you’d rather just keep lying to yourself.

Where do you find yourself lying about how serious you are about your health? What needs to change for you?

Comment below or hit the little purple box on the right side that says “Let’s Talk”. Either way, I can’t wait to hear from all of you! See, I’m giving you choices too!

To your health,

Do you want to feel like a million bucks?

DIY Carpet CleanerBONUS: DIY spring cleaning recipe for you. 🙂

Good day….I hope this finds you well. I asked the question….do you want to feel like a million bucks? I bet you answered a resounding YES!!!

Great….because it’s possible. You see, I believe what we believe all starts in our minds. What we think about, who we spend our time with and what we always put our focus or attention on.

This last week I’ve been purging my life of all kinds of junk. Why in the world do I think that I need to keep some of the stuff I do, I’ll never know.

Old habits die hard. I’ve been in some serious spring cleaning mode, which included giving things to my daughter Amber to put in her garage sale, others things are being donated  and yet others will be given to our local trash collector. Poor guy!

It feels good to get rid of the clutter that has slowly been taking over my life and my space, which isn’t all that big to begin with!

Do you ever feel like you’re surrounded by stuff? Old habits, old beliefs, and just plain starting to feel old! I know that this morning before I got out of bed, I was stretching and feeling some soreness in my muscles from all the bending and additional movements from cleaning.

What would happen if we felt like that every single day….having no motivation, no spunk, aches and pains prevented us from enjoying this incredible life we’re supposed to be living?

I think that slow creep is often times what does happen to many of us. Before long, we’re wondering how we ever got things done.

How did we go out and play and live life? Sometimes it seems like only yesterday. Wait, maybe it actually was. The reality is you’re only 30, 40, 50, 60, what, how young am I? Time flies when you’re having fun or am I having fun?

Does any of this sound familiar? If so, know you don’t have to settle for living a life less than it should be. I know the possibility might seem remote, but it actually is out there.

The burning question….how bad do you want good health? Is it worth fighting for? I am a fighter by nature and that does give me an advantage. You too can have that advantage. And you deserve to have it. You just have to want it…..and want it badly!

Have you ever heard that the best things in life aren’t free? Well, I think that’s partially true. I also think that if we had everything given to us and we didn’t have to work for them, we’d not appreciate them nearly as much, if at all.

How many times have you said that you’ll practice being grateful every single day for something and before long, it slips your mind just that one time and then all of a sudden you can’t remember the last time you actually said the words or felt the feelings of gratitude.

It’s the same for our health and what we often times take for granted. We assume we have been given the right to have it all….including feeling like a million bucks.

I’m here to tell you that if you’re not up to par and not feeling well, you can help your body heal….and if you’re feeling okay, but want to be proactive; awesome….we can do this together.

Hopefully, as this point you’ve seen the other two short little videos that I put together for you surrounding this very topic….Here’s the 3rd one in my 3-part series. These were intended to give you food for thought and some things you can do to start the journey of better health.

What do you want to see happen with your health? Leave your comments below or shoot me an email at I can’t wait to chat with you.

To your health,

Do you love to travel?

Massage Chair.

Do you love to travel and practice taking care of you? Recently I was in San Diego meeting with my Mastermind group hosted by my Coach. Yes, I have a coach. I believe if you want to truly grow into the person you were meant to be in all areas of your life, you have to spend time on yourself.

When I got to the airport, I was waiting at my assigned gate and about 45 minutes into the wait, there’s an announcement that the plane has mechanical issues and is being delayed by another 2 ½ hours. Since I had a connecting flight, they were rerouting us.

Long story short, I could have chosen to be really upset, or figure out a solution. Guess what I did? Rebooked my flight; which meant staying in the airport 5 hours to depart, and getting home past midnight and ultimately spending an entire day either flying or sitting in the airport.

I decided to practice a little self-love. I went and spent about 30 minutes in one of those lovely airport spa shops.

They had the amazing whole body massage chairs, the back massage chairs, and you could get your nails done.

I opted for a 20 minute back massage. Heavenly. And I lounged in those incredible chairs that massage too. Since I’ve had a really rough month, I decided this was a good option to spend some quality time on me.

Have you ever decided to be spontaneous? Do you remember what it felt like? Did you laugh and giggle at the thought of just throwing caution to the wind and just going for whatever the thought was?

Do you realize that when you do this, your stress levels go down, you lower cortisol levels, which can contribute to more belly fat and you laugh, which releases feel good chemicals in your brain?

For me, I get so wrapped up in all the “have to’s” and “left brain” work that I forget to be fun, spontaneous and creative. That’s what lights most of us up and allows us to dream.

When was the last time you took a blanket out into the yard and looked up at the sky and imagined all the animals or faces you could see in the clouds?

Or, laid out on a starry night and looked at the constellation and imagined what it would be like to float around with the stars.

The other night when I was driving home late from the airport, I noticed that the moon looked just like the moon from the nursery rhyme “When the Cow Jumped Over the Moon” and I thought about all the times I’ve had that read to me, all the times I’ve read it to my children and now to my grandchildren.

It sparks a childlike feeling in each of us. When was the last time you just allowed yourself the memories of happy, simple times?

These are the little things that allow us to live life years younger. It doesn’t have to be elaborate things, like sailing around the world, although that sounds wonderful. You don’t have to spend lots of money to find joy, less stress and peace in your life.

Take your kids or grandkids to the park and watch how they play and interact with each other. Close your eyes and truly listen to the laughter. It becomes contagious. You will find yourself laughing with them.

Before long, your mood lightens, your step is lighter and your outlook is bright and fun. Don’t have any children or grandchildren, borrow some. Most parents would love the opportunity to have some free time and you’d be doing yourself a favor. It offers a fresh perspective at life. It becomes a win for the parents, for the children and for you!

When was the last time you threw caution to the wind and truly did something fun without planning every blasted detail? Post it here and then your mission, should you accept to take it, is to be spontaneous and live your life and LAUGH so hard your belly hurts! Your health will thank you!

Love You,

We all have choices….what are yours saying about you?

Double Dandelion

Check out this double dandelion, which chose to partner with another dandelion and share the same stalk and produce two flowers, it chose to be strong and live. We should take after nature more often.

Last week I asked how many of you were sick and tired of being sick and tired. Not surprising, many raised their hands.

It’s so true. We live in a country that thrives on sickness instead of promoting wellness and healing. How many times have you sat around a dinner table and the conversation turns to health?

I just cringe when I’m surrounded by people my age or older (and sometimes much younger) and it’s horrible to hear the devastating stories.

You do realize it doesn’t have to be that way? Just because our country is built on sickness doesn’t mean it has to stay that way.

We are all empowered to do something about it. The often harsh reality is, many of us just don’t know what to do or don’t really want to.

I’m really not trying to be mean, I’m just stating facts. If you want to learn, you’re in the right place, if you’re not sure, stick around and decide.

This past week I’ve been surrounded by some mighty empowered women who are determined to make a difference and a mark in their respective industries. Why? Because we aren’t willing to settle for the way things are when there truly are solutions to be found.

I’ll use myself as the example. I don’t act my age, I don’t look my age, and I don’t feel my age. You might be saying, well that’s great for you, but I feel old and my body has aches and pains it didn’t used to.

I say to you, “Is that what you want?” You have to decide if your health is important to you. Only when something’s truly important, will you actively do something about it. Not until then.

If you feel like I’m being in your face about this, guess what? I am. This is your wake up call. None of us are getting any younger. The fact of life is that we age. You can choose to do it well or you can choose to get old and look and feel it too.

Which do you choose? I chose to live life years younger “Naturally”. Why? It’s more fun. I have energy, I have less stress, I have less illness and aches and pains, and I have a positive attitude and I love life.

You do know that this is all a matter of choice don’t you? Your attitude, how you view your life, how you choose to fuel your body, when you choose to work out or not work out. Whether your attitude is one of negativity or it’s one of positivity. Whether or not everything is someone else’s fault and you are always the victim.

Stop it right now. I realize that stuff may have happened to you. Guess what, it happens to all of us. Recently I shared with you that I lost my career of “many” years unexpectedly and very badly. I’m still optimistic and positive. Why? I chose to be, for my sanity, my health and my life.

You see, if I would have chosen to sink into the abyss that really wanted to swallow me up, I can’t begin to image where I might have ended up. I was depressed, I was sad, I was mad, I was the victim, I, I, I… was all about me and woe is me…, me, me….I even hated hearing about it, so I can’t imagine how others around me felt. None of us likes to hang out with Debbie Downer.

I knew I couldn’t live there. I had headaches that lasted for days on end. My monthly cycle showed up and stayed for 3 weeks. I couldn’t sleep well. I felt exhausted. The list goes on and on. I was grieving. I took the necessary time to process, get through my junk, forgive myself and prayed a lot.

Today, a little more than a month later, my perspective is fresh, new and one focused on living and being good to me.

If I don’t, who’s going to do it for me? Who’s going to do it for you? I want to be happy, healthy and live an abundant life, don’t you?

Remember, it’s your choice. Choose wisely!

How do you feel about the choices you are making in your life? Do you feel empowered to make the changes necessary or do you need help? I can’t wait to hear from you in the comments below or schedule some time with me, either way choose now.
